The More? team is back on your TV screens this month.
Following the success of the Channel 4 documentary A Lake District Farm Shop, the crew returned to Cumbria to make a Christmas special.
If you caught any of the original four episodes this summer you’ll know the series is about Tebay Services on the M6 and its trusted suppliers, including More? It was a big hit, with millions of viewers tuning in.
This time, filming started back in September at the home of our founder and head baker Patrick, as he harvested damsons in his small orchard to start the four-month artisan process behind our award-winning mince pies. Expect a special appearance by Rudy, Patrick’s 11-year-old German short-haired Pointer.
As you’d expect from More? our mince pies are rather special and include damson-infused gin used in the mincemeat, a gin-infused damson in each pie, a surprise layer of hazelnut frangipane and a crisp pastry case, using Winter Tarn Dairy butter and Carr’s biscuit flour, both from Cumbria.
Patrick says: “Think about the best mincemeat you can have and that’s what we’re putting into these pies. The lovely, crisp pastry cases are filled with that mincemeat and topped with the jewel in the crown, which is a gin-soaked damson. On top we add a layer of hazelnut frangipane, made with finely ground hazelnuts, Winter Tarn Dairy butter and icing sugar.
“The level of love and tender loving care that goes into this product isn’t something you can rush. No manufacturer would take it on because it’s too labour intensive.”
The team will make approximately 8,000 mince pies this Christmas and you can get yours exclusively at the bakery at Staveley Mill Yard or from Tebay Services.
